Tips for homemade biscuits

  • Keep the right amount of flour - Put a tablespoon of flour in a measuring cup and level the top.

  • Put your pastry cutter in the flour  between each cut. This will make a cleaner kit for better growth.

  • Cut the biscuits straight down.   Do not turn your cutter to the side. Cutting straight down will help the biscuits come up.

  • Use cold butter - to make the best biscuits. After we cut the butter, we put the sliced butter in the refrigerate. Cold butter will create sharp layers in your biscuits.

  • Do not mix too much. When the liquid starts to touch the flour, mixes until the dry ingredients are moist.

Equipment’s for making biscuits

  • Baking Sheet - Line it well with a sheet of parchment paper.
  • Biscuit Cutters - We use 2 1/2 ″ diameter round cutters
  • Pastry Blender - To cut your butter into flour. You can also use a fork with wide tines, or a food processor.
  • Mixing Bowl- This dough is collected in a bowl (we used 4 qt ).
  • A wooden spoon or spatula - this is used to stir the liquid ingredients

How to make homemade biscuits

Dice butter. Refrigerate 1/2% cubes after cutting. And take it out if needed.

Stir in the dry ingredients. In a mixing bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.. Before adding butter and liquid, stir until well combined.

Add chopped butter to the flour mixture and chop it into the flour until the largest pieces are about the size of a pea. This is easy with a pastry blender.

Add liquids. Add half and stir until the dry ingredients are just wet then transfer to the surface of the dough. If the dough is too moist, wash the top with flour.

Shape dough into a rectangle, fold in half. Re-shape the rectangle and fold a second time. Shape the dough into 5 × 10 ″ rectangles and cut into 8 2 1/2 ″ diameter circles. You can make 2 more biscuits by pulling the scrap together.

Bake Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 450˚F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush on hot biscuits with melted butter..

Tips for the softest biscuits: Be sure not to mix the dough too much so that it does not leave a gluten strand which can cause the biscuits to harden.

Common question

Need to use a biscuit cutter?

Answer. If you do not have a round biscuit cutter, you can use a round object or bench scraper to cut the biscuits into squares. Just be sure to cut straight down and do not use the movement of the saw back and forth.

.Can I use salted butter?

Answer .We use unsalted butter in all our baking and cooking products because we can control the salt. You can substitute salt with butter and use a little less salt.

. Why do biscuits harden?

Answer .Too much flour can cause gluten strips to come out and biscuits to harden. Also, be careful not to bake too much as it will dry out the biscuits.
